Supporting communities in a sustainable and meaningful manner is very important to us here at Lone Mountain Wagyu. We believe in the power of education and supportive environments, and think everyone should have access to healthy, nourishing food. So when we were looking for an organization to donate some product to last year, we looked no further than the backyard of our Los Angeles office.
Since 1976, St. Joseph Center has been providing critical services and care to the community of Venice, CA. The Center offers various services including Affordable Housing, Childcare, Senior Services, and a Community Food Pantry. Additionally, St. Joseph Center runs the Bread and Roses Cafe, a cafe for the homeless population that focuses on serving the community with integrity in a warm and welcoming environment. St. Joseph Center also runs a Culinary Training Program, providing a curriculum that equips students with the skills and confidence they need to enter the restaurant and food service job market. This comprehensive ten-week program includes classroom education, hands on experience working in the Bread and Roses Cafe, and real life experience through externships with local restaurants.
Students in the Culinary Training Program
In April of 2014 after donating some Wagyu for the Cafe and Culinary Training Program, we had the opportunity to visit the Center and were blown away by the incredible work they do and the genuine, generous people we met. St. Joseph Center is truly a pillar of the Los Angeles community and role model for communities around the country. We are proud to continue our work with St. Joseph through continued donations and promotions.
