Hosting a New Year’s Eve Dinner? Don’t Forget These 5 Things

Welcome friends and family into your home on the final day of 2021, and look back on the year’s highs and lows. And as you plan your end-of-year shindig, don’t leave your main course out in the cold. Bring in some Wagyu roast beef to make the occasion extra special. So don’t forget these five things when hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner.

Festive Music

Set the mood with celebratory music, both old and new. Keep it at an ambient volume so your guests can hear it but can still comfortably converse with one another. And of course, if you’re going to play “Auld Lang Syne,” save it for midnight!

Tantalizing Appetizers

Set out some finger foods for you and your guests to munch on before dinner. Combine luxe ingredients with staples, like caviar and potato chips, or wrap some water chestnuts in savory bacon. Get a little creative with your food pairings; your guests will applaud your originality.

Luxurious Main Course

Your holiday season has had its fill of turkey and ham. It’s time to unveil the crowning glory of your NYE dinner party: a splendid roast with all the fixings. For extra flavor and a high-class flair, try Wagyu roast beef instead of your regular variety. After all, it is a special occasion.

Decadent Desserts

It’s the last day of the year. As you and your guests eat your fill and inch closer to midnight, finish off that meal with a showstopping dessert. Molten chocolate cake is a great crowd-pleaser—who doesn’t love that gooey chocolate lava that flows from the inside? Raspberry cheesecake and crème brûlée are also delicious and indulgent.

Champagne!

What’s a New Year’s Eve party without a bottle or two of bubbly? Bring out that bottle you’ve saved for a special occasion, and make sure you have plenty of flutes for everybody. If you or any of your guests don’t drink alcohol, sparkling white grape juice is a perfect fizzy alternative.

This New Year’s Eve, send 2021 off in style—and in the company of good friends. Make sure not to forget these five things when hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner, and your guests will anxiously await your next one.
